Jessie Fleming’s first season of professional soccer couldn’t be more memorable.
The 23-year-old Londoner will have a shot at a Champions League title after her Chelsea F.C. women’s squad knocked off Bayern Munich 4-1 (5-3 on aggregate) in the tournament semifinal Sunday at Kingsmeadow Stadium.
The Blues will make their first trip to the championship in club history when they face Barcelona in Gothenburg, Sweden May 16.
The Canadian midfielder didn’t get off the bench in the match, but she has been an important contributor for a powerhouse Chelsea squad currently dueling with Manchester City at the top of the FA Women’s Super League.
Fleming attended high school at Central and Beal in London. She captured a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, will be a central figure in helping the country get back on the podium at the planned Summer Games at Tokyo in July.
