Mike Holly of the Thunder organization has organized an exhibition game between the Flying Fathers and the Thunder alumni players on Sunday, November 24, starting at 3:30 p.m. The Knights of Columbus, Council 3212, are sponsoring the event, providing money to bring this great event to Tillsonburg.

Everyone is invited to come out for an entertaining afternoon of hockey, and support the Hockey 4 Everyone program.

Profits from the game will be earmarked for Hockey 4 Everyone, which is a cooperative effort between the Tillsonburg Kinsmen Club and Club Oxford Hockey. It has been running in town for more than 10 years now.

The program provides equipment, ice time and instruction for local boys and girls in Grades 2-8 who are not already playing organized hockey. It runs Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7-8 a.m. for three months beginning in January. Several local teachers volunteer their time to make this possible.

The 2020 program starts in January and runs until the end of March. Hockey 4 Everyone also pays for the registration costs of Spring League 3-on-3 hockey for any of its participants who wish to gain more experience in April and May.

Anyone wishing to have their children participate needs to sign a permission form, available at the Tillsonburg Community Centre front desk.

Equipment fitting will take place in the Lion’s Den at the community centre on Friday, December 27, from 6-9 pm. and on Saturday, December 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On ice sessions begin Tuesday, January 7 and Thursday, January 9. There are NO FEES for equipment, ice time or instruction.

Parents need to make necessary transportation arrangements to get their children to the arena and to school after the on-ice sessions.
