London twins Chase and Sydney Brown of the Illinois FIghting Illini are ranked first and third respectively on the Canadian Football League scouting bureau’s fall list of top 2023 draft prospects.
Chase Brown, the only running back in the top 20, ran for 199 yards on 36 carries in a last-minute 23-20 loss to Indiana. That performance – his second straight game with over 150 rushing yards – earned the NCAA Div. I standout the Doak Walker national running back of the week honour. He also scored twice in a season-opening 38-6 win over Wyoming.
Sydney Brown, a defensive back, recorded 10 tackles, a tackle for a loss and a pass breakup in his first two games and has racked up 270 tackles, four interceptions and three forced fumbles in his collegiate career.
Purdue offensive lineman Daniel Johnson, who transferred from Kent State, is No. 14 on the prospect list. The six-foot-five, 305-pounder, originally born in Kenya, comes from an athletic family. One brother, George, played for Western and the Montreal Alouettes as a receiver while another, Alfred, was a Fanshawe Falcons collegiate basketball player.
