Brantford Bulldogs win teddy bear toss game 5-2

It took just 3:31 for the Brantford Bulldogs to score their first Teddy Bear Toss goal against the Barrie Colts Friday night in a 5-2 OHL win.
Teddy bears cascaded to the Civic Centre ice, but after review the goal was disallowed by goaltender interference. The stuffed toys were picked up – and randomly thrown back to fans.
Play continued, and when Barrie’s Grayson Tiller took a slashing penalty at 9:01, the Bulldogs’ power play went to work. Nick Lardis buried his team-high 25th goal of the season at 10:16 and the teddy bears came flying over the glass – again.
Calvin Crombie doubled Brantford’s lead with 42 seconds left in the period.
Bulldogs’ defenceman Jorian Donovan, first star of the night, notched a ‘Gordie Howe hat trick’, assisting on the Brantford’s first two goals, scoring 2:56 into the second period to make it 3-0, then instigating a fight midway through the third.
Barrie pulled within one with goals from Cole Beaudoin and Roenick Jodoin in the second period, but Lucas Moore added insurance for the Bulldogs 2:12 into the third.
Lardis, second star, scored his second of the night to make it 5-2 with 2:04 remaining.
Cole Brown, with two assists, was the game’s third star.
Brantford goalie Matteo Drobac made 19 saves.
