CFL draft: Western Mustangs star Deionte Knight leads pack of London-linked picks

Deionte Knight led a group of five players with London and Western ties in the 2022 CFL draft Tuesday night.

The Vanier Cup champ and U Sports defensive lineman of the year went 10th overall (second round) to the Toronto Argonauts after receiving invitations to NFL rookie camps of the Washington Commanders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Western offensive lineman Zack Fry, a Regina Mundi grad, went 16th overall to Saskatchewan, Safety Daniel Valente, Jr., landed in Ottawa (31st), while Londoner Tommy Bringi, a Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks linebacker, was picked by the Roughriders at No. 36.

Western linebacker Zach Lindley of Chatham rounded out the locals as a 69th overall selection to Montreal.
