With the Blue Jays less than three weeks away from moving their home games north from Dunedin to Buffalo, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday announced incentives for fans going to the city’s downtown ballpark.

Via his official Twitter account, Cuomo announced that those attending Jays games at Sahlen Field beginning on June 1 will be offered a free Johnson and Johnson vaccine shot. Anyone who attends a Jays game and gets the vaccination will have a shot at cashing in further by getting a free ticket to a triple-A Buffalo Bisons game in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Jays announced on Wednesday that the club is moving forward with regulations allowing for increasing capacity at Sahlen Field. Capacity has now been bolstered to 35% for their first eight games, in accordance with recently updated protocols for outdoor venues in New York state.

With just shy of 6,000 people now allowed in the stadium, the atmosphere figures to be significantly different than last year at Sahlen Field when no fans were allowed in.

Tickets will be sold in pods of four seats which each of those spaced a minimum six feet apart. As well, the Jays plan to have sections for fully vaccinated fans where there will be no distance restrictions.

For the first set of home games — from June 1 to 17 — tickets will go on sale on May 20. In accordance with local guidelines, the Jays are requiring that all those in attendance at Sahlen Field wear face coverings, except for those eating or drinking at their seats.

As well, the Jays said that there will be limited access to facilities in the ballpark and during the game, fans will be required to stay in their ticketed seats except when travelling to concessions and restrooms.
