Just one thought before we go into another lockdown.

Medical officer of health Dr. Chris Mackie says now indoor gatherings are the main source. Fine, but that leaves a large question unanswered. Where is the source person who infects these people getting the virus?

The virus does not just spontaneously arise because five or more people get together. An infected person must come into the mix.

I know the common perception is party to home transmission but the data reported shows that work to home is the true source. If we look to other areas, we see a mail and an Amazon processing plant in the GTA were the sources of hundreds of infections.

Maybe we should be looking that way instead of running across the same old ground? If we did that, we might come up with measures that are truly effective.

Offer standby shots

I am grateful for the well-organized vaccination system with London Middlesex Health Unit and it is a great relief to see so many friends and family who are at risk being served so efficiently.

I do wonder why there is no possibility of standby appointments due to cancellations or end-of-the-day open vials.

While I recognize supply issues control much of the process, there are still so many of us in the at-risk age group who are desperately searching for appointments anywhere in Ontario.

Too much to ask

I recently moved from Toronto to Strathroy. I bought a house adjacent to a nondescript park devoid of a name and playground equipment. In the distant corner of the park is a picnic pavilion that’s seen better days. It’s haunting and the target of mindless vandals, a tribute to municipal neglect.

I contacted Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Joanne Vanderheyden who was helpful (the park is called Southfield Park) yet noncommittal.

A park sign and playground equipment is all I ask. Too much to ask for a new kid on the block.
