Wild Wing, Frank's Auto lead Men’s A slo-pitch
Article content
This week will be an exciting week for me as I compete in the Ontario Sr. Games, August 9-11, in Brantford/Paris playing for the Startsafe slo-pitch – games are Thursday and Friday in Paris.
I have also been selected to be the flag bearer for our District 31 athletes in the opening ceremonies. None of this would have been possible for me if I hadn’t had the pleasure to coach and umpire with the main organizer of this team, Jackie Davison. She has been this team’s driving force for the Canadians (last year) and now the Ontario Games which everyone is grateful for!
I guess when you have your own column you can use this as your soapbox, so after turning 65 I am grateful for slo-pitch – it has kept me active and helped me develop many relationships through the Men’s and Ladies Leagues. I feel if I can’t get excited or even nervous about an important game when playing or coaching it will be time to leave the game, but for now I still have the motivation and love for the game.
As we enter the end of our Tillsonburg schedules I would like to wish everyone the best of luck and may fun and sportsmanship prevail along with the competitiveness!
