Cold weather is coming so snuggly, warm slippers are needed.

Barefoot is preferable for me during late spring, summer and early fall, but once the temperature drops it means swaddling my feet.

I have a plethora of slippers, in various sizes, styles and fabrics, many of which I keep in a basket at the front door for guests who insist on removing their shoes or boots.

I wear non-slip slippers in different designs for different temperatures and occasions – fluffy red sock style for most days, a Nordic knitted ankle high pair when the chill sets in, zebra-print calf length for those blustery nights and a pair of fleece-lined crocs I can wear outside when needed.

I am fully equipped in the slipper department.

A friend was telling me she was on the hunt, online, for pair with sturdy non-slip soles. She wants a really warm pair she can easily step into. Not wanting to go into busy stores she opted to try her luck at online shopping. She was on several sites and discovered it hard to make a decision. She also needs an easy return policy in case they don’t fit right and it is not always easy to return items purchased from some online sites. She decided to start looking at websites of local stores which can be easily picked up and returned if necessary. Everything is so complicated these days.

Shopping locally is something I have always strived to do even before COVID. I’m a tactile, visual shopper so wouldn’t buy anything without seeing and touching. These days going into a busy store, even nearby, is something I try to avoid. I can get everything I need in Norwich and only go, fully masked and dripping in disinfectant wipes, every three or so weeks during off times. I have only been to Tillsonburg three or four times since February.

I figured I can’t go too far wrong with printer paper and they deliver to my door, so rather than going into a store I ordered online. After ordering I did something I never do, I browsed, surfed or whatever, ending up on the women’s slipper site.

See there is a connection.

Remember a while back I said there should be dusting slippers so old folks don’t have to bend down to dust furniture legs and under cabinets? Well, there among the thousands of slippers on that well-known online shopping site are ‘dusting slippers’ just like I described. I didn’t order any since my fluffy red slippers work fine.
