Grimes revealed she was hospitalized with a “scary” panic attack just days after her cameo on Saturday Night Live over the weekend.
The Vancouver-born artist made the revelation on Tuesday in an Instagram post along with backstage pictures of her dressed as Princess Peach while posing alongside fellow singer Miley Cyrus.
Grimes wrote that she meant to post the shots earlier, but was seeking medical attention.
“Forgot to post these cuz I somehow caused myself to have a panic attack and went to the hospital yesterday which tbh was quite scary.”
“I suppose it’s a good time to start therapy,” she added. The note also thanked the “SNL team” for “being so kind.”
Grimes ended her post in praise of Elon Musk, who controversially hosted SNL last week, and with whom she has a 12-month old son, X AE A-Xii.
“So proud of my beautiful E (which I know will upset the grimes fans so I apologize in advance) but he killed it,” Grimes wrote.
The pair appeared in a Super Mario-themed sketch on the show, with the “Oblivion” singer playing Princess Peach and Musk playing Wario, Mario’s purple-and-yellow arch nemesis. News of the two dating first became known in 2018, when the couple appeared together at the Met Gala.
Grimes received comments on her Instagram post showing love and support from Vera Wang, Paris Hilton and Janelle Monae.
The producer and singer took to Instagram in 2019 to claim that she had eyeball surgery to filter out blue light to battle seasonal depression.
“I have also eliminated all blue light from my vision through an experimental surgery that removes the top film of my eyeball and replaces it with an orange ultra-flex polymer that my friend and I made in the lab this past winter as a means to cure seasonal depression.”
