A driver escaped injury after a tree fell on their vehicle near Port Dover during Saturday’s violent windstorm.

Norfolk emergency crews responded to Blueline Road between Radical Road and Highway 24 at around 5:30 p.m.

“(Police) officers were absolutely amazed that we were not dealing with a fatal motor collision,” OPP Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said on social media.

Police video shows the vehicle suffered major damage.

The driver managed to crawl out through the vehicle’s roof, Sanchuk said.

Sanchuk urged drivers to be aware of their surroundings and also encouraged people to stay home during Saturday’s windstorm.

“Vehicles can be replaced, people can’t,” he said.
