The annual trivia challenge brings businesses and the community together while raising funds for local community projects.

“It’s a fun night,” said trivia judge Ken Handsaeme, vice-president of the Delhi & District Chamber of Commerce. “It’s awesome, everyone has a really good time.”

The competition will be held Wednesday, March 29, 7 p.m. at the Delhi German Home. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

“We ran one in the fall last year, and now we’ve moved it back to March,” said Handsaeme, noting it will carry forward every year in the early spring.

The entry fee is $100 per four-person team and there will be cash prizes of $350, $250 and $150, as well as door prizes. You can also register as a couple, joining with another pair that night to form a four-person team.

“We’ve got some people that are new to town and it’s great way to meet people.”

Some teams are competitive, he said, but some are “just a bunch of friends that get together, come out and take a stab at it.”

“It’s surprising sometimes,” Handsaeme added with a laugh, “how the ones that don’t have a care in the world – they just went out for a drink and a good time – some of them are running right up at the top of the scorecard.”

There will be a cash bar, refreshments and food (light lunch). Teams can register by emailing

Trivia questions are created by host Mike Jiggens, and scores are tabulated every round.

“Mike Jiggens has been doing it for years, and he comes up with the questions,” said Handsaeme. “Each round you’ll get the questions and he will read them.

“I’m not a real trivia guy, but I could answer some. Some stumped the whole world. It’s interesting – there’s a really wide variety of questions so nobody has to feel intimidated, it just seems fair for everyone.”
