Six new cases of COVID-19 reported in Haldimand Norfolk
Six new cases of COVID-19 were reported Sunday morning by the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit.
Haldimand and Norfolk counties has had 1,402 confirmed cases since the onset of the pandemic.
There are currently 20 active cases in the region that has seen 1,338 recover from the virus, which has claimed 39 lives locally. Another five people who had tested positive died from complications attributed to other illnesses.
The new cases reported Sunday involve residents of the following areas: Dunnville (+1); Hagersville (+1); Jarvis (+1); and Waterford (+1).
The health unit says that for privacy reasons, centres with fewer than five positive cases are not indicated on their website.
Just one outbreak remains ongoing at Grandview Lodge Long-Term Care in Dunnville, where one staff member tested positive on Feb. 18.
On Saturday, the Grand Erie District School Board issued a release indicating that the health unit has confirmed a positive case at Dunnville Secondary School. The individual is self-isolating at home, as is an individual from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Simcoe, announced Feb. 18.
On Friday, Ohsweken Public Health reported five new cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of active cases on Six Nations of the Grand River to 35.
Across the province, Public Health Ontario reported 1,087 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, with 13 more deaths attributed to the virus.
