McCabe will fill the role vacated by retiring CAO Peter Crockett until the search for a permanent replacement is completed.

Larry joins the County as interim CAO at an extraordinary and challenging time, but with a range of knowledge and experience that brings great value as we navigate the months ahead,” said Larry Martin, Warden, Oxford County in a media release.

McCabe recently retired from his role as CAO for the Town of Goderich in 2019, where he also served in clerk, deputy clerk and treasurer roles. His 43 years of experience in the municipal sector includes governance roles with Goderich Public Utilities Commission, West Coast Huron Energy, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, Ontario Small Urban Municipalities, and the Canadian Council for Public Private Partnerships. McCabe served as CAO of the Town of Goderich when it was struck by an F3 tornado in 2011, playing a central role in the Town’s emergency response coordination.

Oxford County offers a culture of innovation, integrity and partnership, an environment that certainly appealed to me and that will serve the County well in its recruitment for a permanent CAO,” said McCabe, Incoming Interim CAO, Oxford County. “I look forward to working with Council, the senior management team, staff and our community partners over the coming months.”
