Norfolk County Fair going virtual

With its annual live event scuttled by the pandemic, the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show has announced the release of an online series of videos.

A Celebration of the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show, presented by CIBC, will premiere at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6 on the fair’s website (norfolkcountyfair.com) and on Facebook and other social media platforms. It’s the first in a series that continues to Oct. 12, with a new video released daily, loosely following the regular fair schedule

The videos will feature interviews, pictures and videos from past fairs, as well as newly produced programming that highlights everything about the fair.

“This will be a real celebration with great moments and opportunities to learn more about how the competitions work and how to win a red ribbon,” George Araujo, fair general manager, said in a news release.

“We’re also featuring classic images and video from past fairs and a drizzle of historical items. Over the month of September, we were shooting all over Norfolk County at farms and ranches to bring the best of the fair to life with a variety of equine, livestock, and poultry at their finest. We went indoors for homecraft, art and photography tips and tricks”

The Oct. 6 video will feature Young Canada Day events, Oct. 7 will include seniors’ day, and the weekend videos will highlight musical performers who have visited the fair. Other guests making appearances in the videos will include Bandaloni, the one-man band, and livestock animals.

On Oct. 8, the Simcoe Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All week long, the Norfolk County Fair Food Celebration Tour is on with vendors listed on the website.

“Thanks to our community partners including presenting sponsor CIBC, Simcoe Reformer, MyFM, Roulston’s, Scotlynn Group of Companies, Bank of Montreal, Caradoc Townsend Mutual Insurance, Ramblin’ Road Brewery, Aitkens Chevrolet Buick GMC, Norfolk County and Funding provided by the Government of Ontario,” said the release.

Donations to support the 2021 fair can be made at www.canadahelps.org, by phone at 519-426-7280, ext. 221, or at the fair office at 172 South Dr. Simcoe, Building No. 5.
