Human trafficking charges laid in Caledonia

Five Caledonia residents are facing charges following an investigation of criminal harassment, weapons, human trafficking, and drug trafficking.

The Criminal Investigation Branch, along with the Haldimand Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit and the OPP, began the investigation on Jan. 19. Arrests were made on Jan 23.

As a result of their investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed at a Larry Crescent, Caledonia address where a number of illicit drugs and replica firearms were seized.

A 34-year-old Caledonia man was charged with Traffic in Person, three counts of Criminal Harassment, three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, and with four counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

A 30-year-old Caledonia man was charged with Traffic in Person, three counts of Criminal Harassment, and with four counts of Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The 28-year-old, 25-year-old, and 34-year-old also charged were each charged with traffic in person and four counts of a schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking.

All of the accused persons were held for a bail hearing scheduled for Jan. 27 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga.
