Haldimand-Norfolk has 195 active cases of the virus

Another 23 new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Haldimand-Norfolk Healthy Unit on Sunday, for a total of 153 new cases in the last week.

The total number of cases locally since the start of the pandemic is now 1,114, but 874 people have recovered from the virus. That leaves 195 active cases in the community.

There have been 35 COVID-19 deaths in Haldimand-Norfolk.

The health unit charts break down the cases geographically showing that 13 of the new cases were based in Simcoe, with other new cases in Dunnville (6); Port Dover (2); Jarvis (1); and Vittoria (1).

While there are continuing outbreaks at Cedarwood Village retirement apartments in Simcoe, Edgewater Gardens Long-term Care Centre in Dunnville, Delhi Long-term Care Centre, and Caressant Care in Courtland, each involving one or two people, the total of outbreak cases on Sunday was just six.

Charts on the health unit’s webpage show the bulk of new cases are not outbreak-related.

The seven-day rolling average for Haldimand-Norfolk, which was at 12.29 Saturday turned to 13.3 on Sunday.

On Six Nations, no new data was posted Sunday. The total number of active cases there is nine and the cumulative total is 121.
