Drugs seized after police stop off-road vehicle

A Brant OPP officer patrolling on Newport Road noticed an off-road vehicle driving on the roadway just after 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 13.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver was taken into custody.

A 50-year-old Brantford man is charged with possession of a methamphetamine, failing to comply with a probation order, three counts of driving while under suspension, unlawfully driving an off-road vehicle on a highway, no off-road vehicle permit, driving a motor vehicle without a licence and not having proper vehicle insurance.

Speeders nabbed

A 22-year-old Brantford man has been charged with stunt driving after a Brant OPP officer clocked a vehicle travelling above 150 km-h on Highway 403 at about 9:20 a.m. on Jan. 14. The driver is charged with racing a motor vehicle, speeding in excess of 50 km/h over the speed limit and having an improper muffler.

At 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 13, police stopped a vehicle on Highway 403 travelling above 160 km-h. The driver, a 24-year-old Pickering man, is charged with racing a motor vehicle and speeding in excess of 50 km/h over the speed limit.

Both vehicles were impounded at roadside for 14 days and the men’s driver’s licences were suspended for 30 days.
