Driver fails to stop for school bus north of Tillsonburg

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police wants to remind residents of Oxford County of the important fact that passing a stopped school bus with its upper red lights and extended arm flashing is not only against the law but dangerous.

Tuesday morning around 8:30 a.m., a police officer in an unmarked cruiser observed a Hyundai traveling south on Hwy 19 (Oxford Road 119), north of Tillsonburg, fail to stop for a stopped school bus, also traveling south. The bus had its upper red lights and extended arm flashing. A student that was standing on the shoulder of the road was almost struck. The officer followed the vehicle when it was safe to do so and spoke with the driver.

Lindsay Foster, 37-years-old, of Ingersoll was charged with failing to stop for a school bus and was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Motorcycle runs into vehicle on Hwy 59

Ontario Provincial Police Norfolk County Detachment investigated a collision on Highway 59, South Walsingham on Sunday, May 19 at approximately 12:49 p.m.

OPP, along with Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to the collision involving a motorcycle and motor vehicle.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a motor vehicle and motorcyclist were travelling north bound on Highway 59. The vehicle slowed down for an animal crossing when the motorcyclist collided with the rear of the vehicle.

The 57-year-old operator of the motorcycle and a 60-year-old female passenger, both of St. Thomas, suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local area hospital by ambulance to be treated. The driver and passenger in the motor vehicle did not suffer any injuries.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
