Dramatic crash but injuries are minor

Norfolk OPP continues to investigate after a vehicle flipped in the Townsend area and was burned beyond recognition Sunday afternoon.

The accident took place on Villa Nova Road, south of Concession 3 near Townsend according to Norfolk OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk.

“Officer are amazed only minor injuries were reported,” Sanchuk tweeted.

Along with police, Norfolk County Fire were on the scene, putting out the flaming vehicle and Norfolk Emergency Services also attended.

The investigation is continuing.

Fatal crash in Windham Saturday night

The driver involved in a single vehicle accident Saturday night in Windham was pronounced dead at the scene.

Norfolk OPP, Norfolk County Fire and Norfolk County Paramedic Services all responded to an emergency call for the crash on Teeterville Road just before 10 p.m.

The initial investigation showed the vehicle was travelling southeast when it left the roadway, went airborne and hit a hydro pole.

The driver was extricated by volunteer firefighters but had fatal injuries.

OPP Technical Collision investigators were on the scene.

Police had not released the identity of the driver as of Sunday, as the next-of-kin is still being notified.
