Church benefits from Trillium grant

Delhi’s St. Alban’s Anglican Church debuted three new washrooms on Sunday.
Members of the congregation, as well as local MPP Toby Barrett and Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) grant review team member Melissa Collver, were on hand to witness the unveiling.
The project came thanks in part to a $35,000 grant courtesy of the OTF. It included the renovation of two existing washrooms and the installation of one that’s fully accessible.
“This is wonderful news for the entire community,” Barrett said in a release. “St. Alban’s is truly a gathering place for so many, and this renovation will open the doors to even more. I’d like to extend my congratulations to all those volunteers who ensured this project was a success.”
In addition to the grant, church members raised $30,000 needed to complete the project.
“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated,” said church warden Brenda Langas. “This grant has allowed needed renovations to be made. Our hall is completely accessible and we can now accommodate everyone with mobility issues and better serve our community. Special thanks to Joe’s Carpentry – Van Lagen Homes of Norwich and Girard Engineering for making this construction process a smooth and successful one.”
St. Alban’s will now be accessible for many community events in the future.
The OTF is an agency of the Government of Ontario. It has awarded more than $120 million to some 700 projects this year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.
