Abandoned kittens land on their feet
Tillsonburg couple adopt Kevin, Delilah
Two kittens discarded along the road in Delhi this summer have landed on their feet.
Staff at the Purrfect Companions of Norfolk cat rescue on Brantford Road dubbed the malnourished, flea-infested pair Posie and Cashel.
Once their story hit the Delhi News-Record, Tillsonburg couple Csaba and Tracie Megyesi reached out to the shelter and expressed interest in adopting them. The Megyesis have re-named the cats Kevin and Delilah.
“Although these kittens have a happy ending, there are so many more cats and kittens that need homes,” Vicky Lachine of Purrfect Companions said in a news release. “The shelter continues to seek volunteers and donations.”
Purrfect Companions is one of the busier cat rescues in this part of Ontario.
By the end of August, Purrfect Companions had taken in 526 cats of all ages. Cats adopted out this year by the end of August came to 395.
Another 469 cats and kittens remain in care at the shelter, at the My Kitty Cafe in Guelph, and in associated foster homes in the local area.
Another 47 cats at feral colonies have been trapped, spayed or neutered and then re-released into these communities, which are monitored by volunteers.
