Since the inaugural season of what she’s dubbed Dock Music ended last year, Thomas has been busy, not only with finishing her last year of high school and figuring out what her next steps academically will be, but also with recording and producing her Christmas album, Christmas Don’t be Late, performing in livestreamed concerts from venues such as Stratford’s Revival House, and lining up sponsors and guest performers for this year’s lakeside concert series.

“Since last summer, I focused a lot on my Christmas album, which was great,” Thomas said. “I had a lot of guest artists on there and it was really great to promote it with Dock Music. Lots of people were involved and it was such a fun thing to make … but Dock Music is the big thing for me right now, and I’m really excited to start it.”

Last year, Thomas’s concerts featured covers of some of the young musician’s favourite songs, a few of her original songs sprinkled here and there, and a couple of guest performers, including her dad, in 30- to 45-minute concerts every Sunday night.

This year, Thomas said she is working on a much larger lineup of guest artists, many of whom haven’t had the chance to perform live during the pandemic. Thanks to funding from the Stratford Destination Animation Project and a number of local businesses that have stepped in as sponsors, her concerts will run for about an hour every Sunday beginning at 7 p.m.

“This year, a lot more people are involved, which is so nice, and I’m planning on doing some promotional minutes while I’m out there because I have a stage and I want to promote some of the stores downtown and my sponsors, of course,” Thomas said. “I also have a lot of brand new (cover) songs and some favourites from last year as well.”

Thomas’s stage has also seen a transformation since last year, having recently been painted with a mural by Stratford artist Claire Scott featuring a microphone, music notes, leaves and some of Thomas’ favourite colours. Now that she will be performing from atop a work of art, Thomas and Scott have renamed the floating stage to The Just Sing Dock.

“I think people should come hear me play because it’s something really fun that they can look forward to and enjoy, they can see other people and listen to some great music,” Thomas said.

For those who can’t come out to enjoy the music in person, the weekly concerts will also be livestreamed on the Hannah Thomas Music Facebook page and HannahThomas.Music on Instagram. For more information about Thomas and her music, visit www.hannahthomasmusic.ca.
