With the launch her new brand Imaraïs Beauty, the 24-year-old content creator, model and self-described “health freak” has added beauty entrepreneur to her list of achievements.

The company’s sugar-free Glow gummies feature marine algae from the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, along with vegan squalane and vitamin C to reveal “plump, restore and hydrate” skin, according to Ray.

“What you put on your body is the topical solution, but what you put inside your body is the true solution,” Ray explains of the ingestible approach to skincare. “That’s something that I have always believed in.”

We caught up with Ray via video call to learn more.

Q. How did this brand collaboration come about?

A. I always get people reaching out wanting to do some type of line with me, like makeup, skincare — something. I’m kind of picky about it. If I get into the space, I want it to be something that I truly believe in and that I’m passionate about — and makes sense for me and my brand.

So, when Felicia (Hershenhorn, the co-founder and chief operating officer of Imaraïs Beauty) reached out and told me about the ingestible skincare space, and how she wants to get involved and how we should make one together, I thought, that sounds like something I can really get behind.

Q. What made you want to explore ingestible skincare as an option?

A. My background is working out, fitness, wellness. I’m a health freak. It doesn’t matter how much you work out — if you’re not feeding your muscles and you’re not fuelling your body, your body is not going to change. So, I feel the same about skincare. I believe that real results come from a cellular level, really, from the inside. And that is what Imaraïs Beauty is all about.

Q. How would you incorporate this gummy into your regime?

A. I don’t want to be in the bathroom for like an hour before I go to bed. I like everything simple. My followers are always like, ‘Sommer, what do you do? What do you use?’ I just clean my skin, moisturize, use sunscreen during the day. And then, I just take the gummy. I like to say, drink your wine, take your bath, and eat your gummy. You just take two a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. It’s just simple. Obviously, wash your face, obviously still look after your skin and moisturize. This is just something that is going to be working all day long.

Q. How do you hope this line challenges skincare standards?

A. The beauty world has been non-stop on serums and creams and needles. We live in a world where it’s like, “Get all this stuff pumped into your face and that’s how you look young, and that’s how you look beautiful.” But, I just don’t agree with that. Our skin is our biggest organ, so we need to keep it healthy from the inside. And I think this is a perfect time for the new generation to realize this.

I’m all about natural, and that is why Imaraïs Beauty is vegan, plant-based, PETA-certified. I want to be an inspiration to young girls to care of their body. It’s not all about topical. It’s about what’s inside, and what goes inside is really important.

Q. Lastly, what does it mean to you to have such a large platform to speak to people about wellness?

A. It is my biggest passion in life. What I wanted to do, before I got on social media, was be a personal trainer. It’s literally just taking that and doing it on such a huge, grand scheme of things. Inspiring and motivating young girls is my biggest passion in life. And it’s something that really motivates me and makes me love what I do.
