New four-way stop at Baldwin-Quarterline

Fifteen Provincial Offence Notices have been handed out at the intersection of Baldwin Street and Quarter Town Line in Tillsonburg after a new four-way stop intersection was created.

Ontario Provincial Police Oxford Detachment received complaints from concerned citizens about the four-way, which was previously a two-way stop at Baldwin controlled by stop signs going east and west. The new stop signs are for north and southbound traffic.

Police have been out educating and enforcing the motoring public in the area since the signs were erected. There are also flashing lights on the new stop signs as well as warning signs erected prior to the intersection.

Drivers not obeying the four-way sto could face the following:

* Disobey Stop Sign - Fail To Stop - Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

* Fine - $110 and 3 demerit points.

Several near collisions were witnessed by citizens and police alike at this intersection.

The OPP remind all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times and to slow down, be extremely vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
