This past weekend was the 10th Annual O.R.C.S. Coed Three Pitch Tournament. I was happy to be part of the umpiring crew for a tournament that featured 17 teams, good food and non-alcoholic refreshments. The event was staffed by many friendly volunteers and the theme was sportsmanship and good camraderie.

Men's A

Maple View Variety handed Haines Roofing their first loss. They also won easily over Pelicans.

Haines edged out Sunrise Equipment Roosters in the only other A division action.

Maple View - Johnny Epp 4-4, Abe Epp 4-4, Nathan Boldt HR, Peter Epp HR, Ryan Miller HR

Haines - Phil Durham 5-6, Chris Durham 4-6 HR

Despite playing with eight, Haines kept the game close only losing by one in the end. Peter Epp walked it off for Maple View with a seventh-inning single. Abe Epp led the winners with four runs batted in.

Pelicans 14

Maple View - Nathan Boldt HR, Randy Miller 5-5 2 HR, Ryan Miller HR, Tim Townsend 2 HR, Ben Boldt HR

Pelicans - Andrew Dawson 4-4 2 HR, Mike Kamenar 3-4, Adam Jensen HR

Everyone in Maple View's order scored at least two runs. Tim Townsend, Nathan and Ben Boldt were each a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

Haines Roofing 23,

Sunrise Equipment Roosters 22

Haines - Brett Ferguson 4-4, Dave Phillips 4-5, Kevin Harrop HR, Phil Durham 2 HR, John Ralf HR

Sunrise - Mark Hamulecki 6-6 2 HR, Troy Temple 4-6, Josh Munro HR, Nate Malcolm HR, Greg Buchner HR

Haines plated 13 runs over their last two at-bats and held on to edge out an eight-man Sunrise squad.

Phil Durham led Haines with a pair of homers and five runs batted in.

Men's B

Team Awesome and Corey's Restaurant each upset an A division team last week. Team Awesome won by two over Platinum Concrete and Corey's won by two over Robert Q Travel.

Matteo's Pizza collected victories over R n D Carpentry Kekambas and Pelicans.

Platinum - Dave Hodges 4-5 HR, Tyler Lamb 3-5

Darryl Whittington and Devon Homick each tripled for Team Awesome.

Robert Q Travel 14

Corey's - Justin Aker 3-3, Justin Clapdorp 3-4 HR

Robert Q - Mike McCarthy 3-4 HR, Steve Byron 3-5, Darren Pace 2 HR, Josh Stubbs HR, Tim Morgan HR, Steve Derks HR

Justin Clapdorp's three-run sixth inning homer was Corey's game winning hit in the upset of A's Robert Q Travel.

Pelicans - Ryan Verbuyst 4-4, Adam Jensen 4-5 HR, Andrew Dawson 2 HR, Rob Fishback 2 HR, Sean Hopper HR

Dallas Dalby homered in consecutive at-bats for Matteo's. Doug Falkins scored four runs.

Men's C

Trophy Property Corp Expos won the Tillsonburg version of the Canadian Classic mercying the Brew Jays. They put up 30 runs against Circus Room avenging a loss to them a week ago.

Jokers won by four over Bad News Bears.

Matt Freelan scored five runs for Jokers.

Trophy Property - Kyle Jones 6-6 HR, Jayme Wallace 5-5 HR, Keith Agnew HR

Circus Room - Jesse Legg 3-3 (3 HR), Tom Gammage 3-3 HR, Mark Carrel HR, Ryan Copping HR

Trophy Property broke up a tie game with a seven run third, they piled on thirteen more in their last at bat. Jayme Wallace was a double shy of hitting for the cycle.

Sandy Shore - Dylan Cremery 1-2, Josh Knoflock 1-2

Jordan Bruckler, Keith Agnew and Spencer Meron each scored three runs for the winners.

Men's D

Wrecking Crew remained unbeaten beating their second C division team.

Sluggers recorded a walk-off win over Orchard Crest Farms.

Jokers - Rick Wiebe 3-4, Jamie VanDenNeuker 3-3

Wrecking Crew held off a late rally from Jokers to win by two. Peter Wolf had a pair of doubles for Wrecking Crew.

Sluggers 16,

Orchard Crest Farms 15

Sluggers - Frank Harms 5-5 (2 HR), Jake Sawatzy 3-4, David Berg HR

Orchard Crest - Andrew Barnim 3-4, Kalvin Smith 4-4 HR, Shawn Mathews HR, Craig Boucher 2 HR, Mark Vanderhaeghe HR

Orchard Crest scored eight in a bat-around seventh to take the lead. Sluggers homered twice in their half, including a walk-off by Frank Harms.

Ladies A

Corey's Restaurant and Indi-Girls remain unbeaten atop the standings after a pair of easy victories for both last week. Service Master mercied Pink Sox and Advanced Auto/Morgan Realty mercied Shady Akers to round out the week's action.

Corey's broke open a close game with a six-run fifth. Leadoff batter Corrie Smith had five hits and scored four runs for Corey's.

Lauren Duffy had a pair of triples to lead Corey's.

Steph Erdelac had a triple and scored four runs for Service Master.

Bri Johnston reached and scored four times for Advanced Auto.

Indi-Girls plated 12 over their final two at-bats. Tamara Schultz and Tena Bueckert had a pair of doubles.

Ladies B

Center Point Contractors scored late to upend A's Jays. They mercied Crazy Pitches in their other game.

George's Auto and SOS Towing each mercied Pink Sox.

Jays - Nicki Dawson 3-4, Nicole Boughan 3-3

Center Point won it courtesy of a five-run fifth. Rina Lamb had a two-run double in the rally. Kristen Cadotte turned a triple play for the Jays.

George's Auto 13,

George's Auto - Kerilyn Bruckler 3-3 HR, Pam Brandon 4-4

Pink Sox - Melissa Purser 3-3, Amanda Hiebert 2-2

Kerilyn Bruckler was a double shy of hitting for the cycle for George's Auto.

Pink Sox - Jenn Parker 3-3, Tammy Rollinson 2-3

Steph McDonald and Mel Gardner scored four runs for SOS.
