Collisions, erratic driving leads to arrest in Tillsonburg

On Sunday, Jan. 28, shortly after 3 p.m. the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Ridout Street and Broadway in Tillsonburg. A white four-door Chevrolet Cruise was reported to be driving erratically.

The suspect vehicle failed to stop at a red light at Ridout Street, and struck a vehicle travelling southbound on Broadway. The vehicle continued, then struck another unattended, parked vehicle on Broadway. No injuries were reported in either collision.

A short time later, OPP located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Harvey Street near The Town Centre mall entrance.

While speaking with the female driver, the officer formed the opinion that she was impaired by drug and she was arrested and transported to the local OPP detachment for evaluation.

Natasha Desroches, 24, of Norfolk County, was charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences: Driving While Ability Impaired by Drug; Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Fail to Stop At Scene of Accident.

The motor vehicle was impounded and her driver's licence suspended as per the regulations of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. She was released on a Promise to Appear and An Officer in Charge Undertaking with a future court date.

OPP are looking to speak to anyone who may have further information or to anyone that may have any property/vehicle damage that has yet been reported to the police that may be linked to this incident.
