Mischief at Rolph Street school

The Ontario Provincial Police Oxford County Detachment investigated a report of mischief on Rolph Street, Tillsonburg, on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Through the course of investigation it was determined that unknowns damaged the rear window of the building near the back playground area of Rolph Street Public School.

Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying those responsible. If anyone has any information or can assist with the investigation, they are being asked to contact the Oxford County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

The OPP want to remind all residents that if they see anything suspicious to please contact the police. If anyone is found committing acts of mischief, appropriate charges will be laid.

Pickup stolen on Karn Road

The Ontario Provincial Police, Oxford County Detachment received a report of a stolen vehicle from a Karn Road, South West Oxford Township address.

On Thursday, November 23, at approximately 3:54 p.m., police received a report of a theft of a pickup truck. Through the course of investigation, it was determined that officers were in the area searching for a male in connection with a break and enter when a pickup truck was taken from the driveway of the residence by a male who matched the description of the suspect involved.

The suspect is described as a male, 5'6", approximately 35 years old, scruffy beard, wearing a dark-coloured jacket and pants.

The truck was observed leaving the driveway of the residence and travelling through a field towards Karn Road. The vehicle then went westbound on Karn Road and was later observed travelling north bound on East Hill Road.

The stolen pickup truck is described as a black 2011 GMC Sierra with a silver and aluminum tool box in the bed. The windows are tinted and stickers are located on the rear window.

The OPP are continuing to investigate and is seeking the public's assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information, they are being asked to contact the Oxford County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Man faces impaired driving charge after alert citizen contacts police

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County Detachment charged a 22-year-old male after police investigated an incident on Simcoe Street, Tillsonburg.

On Wednesday, November 22, at approximately 12:56 a.m., an alert citizen contacted police about a motor vehicle near the corner of Oxford Street and Tillson Avenue. Officers on patrol subsequently located the vehicle and stopped it to investigate the driver at a Simcoe Street address.

As a result of investigation, police charged 22-year-old Daniel Robert Turkey of Six Nations of the Grand River Territory with impaired driving, driving over the legal limit, driving while under suspension and driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor.

He was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Woodstock at a later date to answer to the charges.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank the concerned citizen that contacted police," stated Constable Ed Sanchuk, Oxford County OPP Detachment, in a media release. "There will be zero tolerance for anyone that decides to operate any motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol."

Citizen confronts man breaking into neighbour's home

The Ontario Provincial Police, Oxford County Detachment investigated an incident after being called to Dodge Line, South West Oxford Township on Thursday, November 23, at approximately 11:00 a.m., after police received a report of a break and enter in progress.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that an alert resident observed an unknown male entering their neighbour's residence. The unknown male realized he was being watched and immediately fled from the area heading eastbound through a field with the alert citizen following.

OPP Canine Services and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended and searched the area however the male was not located.

The suspect is described as a male, 5'6, approximately thirty-five (35) years old, scruffy beard, wearing a dark-coloured jacket and pants.
