We are down to the final six in Tillsonburg Mens slopitch. The finals commence on Tuesday night let's hope Annandale 3 isn't in as rough shape as it was on Friday night for the deciding C semifinal game!

This is more important time of year and we deserve to play on a diamond that as least been dragged or groomed in some way! For all the time it takes there is no reason that the diamond could not be lined for the rest of our season like other towns and cities do!

Everyone in Tillsonburg slo-pitch would like to express our good well wishes and a speedy recovery to injured East Elgin's pitcher Peter Froese!

Mens A

You would expect nothing more then a tight semifinal between Haines Roofing and G.C. Lounsbury who s last two games were decided in extra innings.

Haines tied it in the seventh to force extras in Game #3 and won it with a walk off. they tied it in the seventh in Game#4 and won it in the eighth. They now go on to face I.C. Waters in the battle of first versus second.

I.C. won two of their three regular season meetings.

Game #3-Semi-Final

Haines Roofing-20     G.C. Lounsbury-16

Haines-Dan Clark 4-5. Phil Durham 4-4, 2 Hr, Gr Slam, Adam Thomson Hr, Kevin Harrop Hr, Brett Ferguson Hr

G.C.-Greg Onaitis 5-5, Trevor Stuyt 3-4, Kent Collings Hr, Sean Little 2 Hr, Cory Smith 2 Hr

Game Highlights-This was a barn burner Haines had a five run lead after five complete. G.C. took over the lead in the seventh but Haines tied it to force extra innings. Neither team scored in the eighth, G.C. stranded two runners in the ninth. Haines won it in the bottom half on a Phil Durham off field walk off grand slam.

Game#4

Haines Roofing-16     G.C. Lounsbury-14

Haines-Dan Clark 4-5 Hr, Dave Phillips 3-5 Hr, Kevin Harrop Hr, Adam Thomson Hr

G.C.-Sean Little 3-3 Hr, Devin Lee 2-3, Kent Collings Hr, Trevor Stuyt Hr

Game Highlights-It looked like G.C. had a shot of forcing a fifth and deciding game but once again Haines tied it in the seventh. Haines got back to back homers from Kevin Harrop and Dave Phillips in the eighth and then had a three up three down shutdown to end the series. Dan Clark was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle for the winner's.

Mens B

It will be the first place East Elgin Spartans taking on third place Diamond Dogs in the B final.

East Elgin won a tough 21-17 game in which their pitcher was injured to take the series over the Pelicans.

East Elgin won all three of their match-ups with Diamond Dogs in the regular season.

Game#4 - Semi-Final

East Elgin Spartans-21     Pelicans-17

East Elgin-Jake Klassen 5-5 Hr, Johnny Klassen 2-2 Hr, Martin Klassen Hr, Pete Krahn Hr, Peter Froese Gr Slam

Pelicans-Benson Howey 4-4, Ryan Verbuyst 4-5, Andrew Dawson 3 Hr, 

Game Highlights-The game was tight into  the bottom half  of the third  when East Elgin lost their pitcher Peter Froese due to injury dropping them down to nine players. They rallied in the fifth scoring seven runs, Jacob Enns and Johnny Klassen each hit two run doubles for Spartans.  Pelicans came back with five but four runs was closest deficit they could get to. Everyone in the Spartans order scored at least one run, Andrew Dawson homered three times and drove in eight for Pelicans.

Mens C

It will be the top two regular season teams contending for the C division title after Brad Cole Orioles came all the way back after dropping the first two to John Beere. Hit N Run won their series in four games over Boston Pizza. Brad Cole won all four meetings with Hit N Run in the regular season.

Game#4 - Semi-Final

Hit N Run-12     Boston Pizza-8

Hit N Run-Diedrich Klassen 3-3 Hr, Herman Enns 3-4 Hr, Abe Klassen Hr

Boston Pizza-Greg Fleming 3-3, Christian Devlin 3-4, Spencer Meron Hr

Game Highlights-Hit N Run broke up a tie game in the fifth, Diedrich Klassen had a two run double as they scored three. They shut Boston Pizza down in their final two at bats. Klassen led Hit N Run with four runs batted in and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

Game#4-Semi-Final

Brad Cole Orioles-20     John Beere-12

Brad Cole-Bryan Granger 5-6 2 Hr, Ryan Blackman 3-3

John Beere-John Nichols 3-3, Ross Russell 4-4

Game Highlights-Brad Cole fielded only nine but it proved to be an advantage as they got through their batting order five times. Ryan Blackman and Wayne Rear made big catches in their three man outfield. Bryan Granger homered and tripled twice to lead Brad Cole, Kevin Miller also had a pair of triples.

Game#5

Brad Cole Orioles-17     John Beere-16

Brad Cole-Kevin Miller 4-4, Tim Hayward 4-4

John Beere-Shaun Elliott 4-5, Kevin Listar 3-4, Kalvin Smith Hr

Game Highlights-This was the only game in town played on Friday night and it loved up to it's billing as the decider. John Beere put six on the board in their first at bat and Brad Cole cut that lead in half. John Beere took a two run lead into the bottom of the sixth, Brad Cole put together a five run rally highlighted by triples from Dave Weaver and Trevor Fleet. John Beere made it close in the seventh but stranded the tying run at third base. The old boys trio of Dave Weaver, Kevin Miller and Tim Hayward were a perfect 11 for 11 for Brad Cole.
