Only three series of the 11 played in Tillsonburg Men's slo-pitch went the distance to a fifth and deciding game. There was one sweep in A, one in B and one in C.

The Tillsonburg Ladies commenced their final series this week and none of them will end in a sweep.

Let's hope a warm front comes in this week making it more enjoyable for players and spectators.

This coming weekend several teams will be making the trek to the SPN Provincial Championships in Niagara Falls. Corey's Restaurant, Indi-Girls and Service Master will be competing in Women's C while Ward's Automotive, Corey's Restaurant, Diamond Dogs and Hammertime will be in the Men's Rec division. Men's A

G.C. Lounsbury ended their series with Maple View Variety with a lopsided victory in Game 4 Tuesday night.

Robert Q Travel also easily beat a short-handed Hounds squad advancing to the semifinals for the first time in awhile.

There will be two excellent match-ups as G.C. will take on Haines Roofing while the other semifinal will be Robert Q and I.C. Waters. Haines beat G.C. twice in three meetings while Robert Q finished the same against I.C. Waters.

Game 4

G.C. Lounsbury 22, Maple View Variety 7

G.C. - Kent Collings 5-5, Cheyne Sarafinchin 3-4, Thom Puhr 2 Hr, Jarrett Anderson 2 Hr, Stephen Deblaire Hr

Maple View - Abe Epp 2-3, Phil Beauvais 3-3, Henry Boldt Hr

G.C. put this one away scoring 11 runs over their last two at-bats. Jarrett Anderson and Stephen Deblaire were each a triple shy of hitting for the cycle for the winners.

Game 4

Robert Q Travel 24, Hounds 8

Robert Q - Darren Pace 4-5, Darren Pace 4-5, Josh Stubbs Hr, Billy Wilson 2 Hr, Ryan Black Hr, Bryan Deblaire 2 Hr

Hounds - Greg Hutchison 3-3, Barry Howick 3-4, Mike Bouck Hr

Everyone in the winner's order had at least two hits. Billy Wilson and Bryan Deblaire went back to back in the third and fourth innings.

Men's B

Nancy's Variety evened its series with Diamond Dogs with a walk-off victory in Game 4. Pelicans roared back from a two-game deficit winning three straight to take their series with Corey's Restaurant.

The next round is still up in the air as everything hinges on the outcome of Game 5 between Diamond Dogs and Nancy's Variety. If Diamond Dogs win, they will play Ward's Automotive in one semifinal and East Elgin will face Pelicans. If Nancy's prevails, they will play East Elgin and Ward's will meet up with Pelicans.

Game 4

Nancy's Variety 11, Diamond Dogs 10

Nancy's - Rob Smith 3-4, Marty Hawel 2-2 Hr

Diamond Dogs - Kevin MacDonald 4-4, Dave Phipps 3-4

Diamond Dogs took the lead in the seventh when Kevin MacDonald plated Rob Underhill. Nancy's scored two in their half walking it off on a Dan McRae single plating Matt Davis.

Game 3

Pelicans 17, Corey's Restaurant 9

Pelican - Andrew Dawson 4-4 Hr, Mike Kamenar 3-4, Benson Howey Hr, Nick Wilson Hr, Adam Jensen Hr

Corey's - Justin Clapdorp 4-4, Mike Mesquita 3-4, Eric Vanwynsberghe Hr

Andrew Dawson and Mike Kamenar each scored three runs for Pelicans. Pelicans plated nine of their final two at bats.

Game 4

Pelicans 17, Corey's Restaurant 14

Pelicans - Adam Jensen 4-4, Mike Kamenar 4-4

Corey's - Justin Clapdorp 4-4 Hr, Scott MacIntyre 3-4

Mike Kamenar led Pelicans with a pair of triples and four runs scored. A seven-run fifth keyed Pelicans victory.

Game 5

Pelicans 15, Corey's Restaurant 13

Pelicans - Benson Howey 4-4 Hr, Kevin Buchner 3-4, Adam Jensen Hr, Andrew Dawson Hr

Corey's - Justin Aker 3-4, Justin Clapdorp 3-4, Mike Mesquita Hr

Pelicans broke up a tie game after two scoring six third-inning runs highlighted by Andrew Dawson's three-run homer. Corey's made a game of it scoring three seventh-inning runs but came up two shy. Benson Howey was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle for Pelicans.

Men's C

The match-ups are finally set as first place Brad Cole Orioles will take on John Beere in the semifinals after John Beere won three straight to eliminate Hammertime. The other semifinal will be between second place Hit N Run and third place Boston Pizza who eliminated McKenzie Carquest Thursday night.

Brad Cole won three of four against John Beere while Hit N Run split their season series with Boston Pizza two apiece.

Game 4

John Beere 18, Hammertime 13

John Beere - Ross Russell 4-4, Craig Boucher 4-4

Hammertime - Tim Pressey 4-4 Hr, Tom Gamage 3-4

John Beere took over the lead in the fourth and never relinquished it. Ross Russell led the winners with four singles and four runs scored.

Game 5

John Beere 20, Hammertime 10

John Beere - Rick Pihokker 4-4, Kalvin Smith 4-4

Hammertime - Chris Bevan 3-4, Brent O'Brien 5-5

Hammertime, missing several key players for this one, played with just nine. Pete May had a bases clearing triple and scored three runs for John Beere. Mark Carrel and Ross Russell each hit doubles.

Ladies A

It was fitting that the finals ended the week with the series being tied. Corey's Restaurant and Indi-Girls split their season series - Indi-Girls took the lid lifter by three, and Corey's evened it with a lopsided win. The series resumes tonight on Annandale 3 at 9 o'clock.

Game 1

Indi-Girls 11, Corey's Restaurant 8

Indi-Girls - Jess Anseeuw 4-4, Mandi Kromplak 4-4

Corey's - Rose Finnnessy 3-3, Tab Moulton 3-3

Corey's pulled within one after five. Indi-Girls salvaged the win with a three-run sixth. Jess Anseeuw led the winners with a double, a triple three runs scored and several putouts at shortstop, Tamarah Schultz and Nicole Gubesch also hit doubles.

Game 2

Corey's Restaurant 15, Indi-Girls 3

Corey's - Tracey Pressey 4-4, Lauren Duffy 3-4

Indi-Girls - Kelly Spencer 2-2, Kathy Vanderven 2-2

Corey's scored runs in every inning but the third in the five-run mercy. Tracey Pressey led the way with a triple, double, three runs scored and four runs driven in. Lauren Duffy was a standout at short and Deb Simmonds pitched a strong game.

Ladies B

Steelerz took the opener with Centre Point Contractors despite fielding only nine. Centre Point bounced back and tied the series winning by seven.

Game 1

Steelerz 14, Centre Point Contractors 13

Steelerz - Niki Lama 4-5, Bri Johnston 4-5

Centre Point - Danielle Swart 3-3, Kate Dedrick 3-3 2 Hr

Steelerz, despite playing with just nine, rallied for four runs in their last at-bat to win by one. Lead off batter Niki Lama scored three runs for the winners.

Game 2

Centre Point Contractors 16, Steelerz 9

Centre Point - Keri Sunderland 4-4, Amber Campbell 4-4

Steelers - Laurie Laughlin 4-4, Niki Lama 3-4

Keri Sunderland had a strong game at shortstop and hit a triple, double, single and three runs scored. Danielle Swart and Jen Cadman also hit doubles.

Ladies C

Pitch Slap won their first-ever title beating Boston Pizza in five games. The team was coached by Kyle Hollister and Steve Demeter. A total team effort keyed their success.

Game 3

Pitch Slap 12, Boston Pizza 0

Pitch Slap - Leigh Ann Bower 4-4, Ang Fast 4-4

Boston Pizza - Valerie Lockstein 2-2, Heidi Hopper 2-2

After a low scoring first three innings, Pitch scored nine over their final two at-bats in the mercy. Lead off batter Ang Fast reached four times and scored three runs.

Game 4

Pitch Slap 20, Boston Pizza 8

Pitch - Ang Fast 4-4, Erin Murray 3-3, Leigh Ann Bower Hr, Brit Sandham Hr

Boston Pizza - Heidi Hopper 3-3, Brittany Wolf 4-4

Pitch got back-to-back homers from Brit Sandham in their six-run first. Erin Murray and Kelsey Vanderven hit triples in the win.
