That was more like it as we lost just one game due to rainout last week. We are entering the last full month of regular season play and hopefully we will have a drier month of July!

This weekend will feature an SPN Qualifier with many local teams participating in both Ladies and Men's divisions.

Men's A

Maple View Variety remains the hottest team in the division as they easily won twice last week over Hounds and Kekambas.

Maple View has now won seven straight and are just five points out of first.

Haines Roofing took over first place after defeating G.C. Lounsbury 6-4. They missed an opportunity to go further up after losing on Thursday to I.C.Waters by two.

I.C. had a perfect week as they earlier defeated Roosters pulling them into a tie for third with Robert Q Travel, who beat Kekambas (but were upset by Hounds).

IC Waters 20,

Haines Roofing 18

IC Waters - Eric Lockey 4-4 HR, Jeff Davies 3-3, Shawn Crane HR, Aaron Laporte HR

Haines - Dave Phillips 4-5 3 HR, Phil Durham 5-5 HR, Shawn Finch HR, John Ralf HR, Dan Clark HR

IC put seven on the board in the sixth to overtake Haines. Aaron Laporte's two-run homer provided the margin of victory.

Haines Roofing 6,

GC Lounsbury 4

Haines - Andrew Burns 3-3, Scott Harris 2-3

GC Lounsbury - Travis Nikin 2-2, Justin Miller 2-2.

Haines scored three fifth-inning runs to secure the low scoring win. Adam Thompson scored what turned out to be the winning run in the fifth.

Maple View Variety 22,

Hounds 5

Maple View - Abe Epp 5-5, Peter Epp 4-5, Drew Murray HR

Hounds - Nick Barnim 3-4, Chris Howick 2-4

Hounds were really short-handed in this one and Maple View capitalized scoring seven in their first two at-bats.

Robert Q Travel 21,

Kekambas 12

Robert Q - Billy Wilson 5-6 HR, Josh Stubbs 5-6 HR, Bryan Deblaire 2 HR, Ryan Black HR, Steve Derks HR, Charlie Crossett HR

Kekambas - Kyle Smith 3-4, Travis Horvath 3-4 2 HR, Brandon Rohrer HR

Bryan Deblaire led the winners with a pair of three-run homers and four runs scored.

Kekambas - Nate Shearer 2-3, Jamie Haines 2-3, Derek Buchner HR

Maple View hit their seven home run maximum in the win. Randy Miller and Nathan Klassen each homered in consecutive at-bats.

Hounds 16, Robert Q Travel 15

Hounds - Jim McKillen 5-6, Shane Bouck 4-5

Robert Q Travel - Josh Stubbs 4-5, Billy Wilson 4-5

This was a battle of nine against nine. Hounds scored two in their last at-bat with Jim McKillen coming up with the walk-off base hit.

IC Waters 13,

Roosters 9

IC Waters - Chris VanParys 3-4 2 HR, Jeff Cadotte 3-3, Steve Leacock HR, Mike Shewan HR

Roosters - Tony Laur 4-4, Nate Malcolm 4-4, Leo Centeno 2 HR

Tied at six after three complete, IC Waters put the game away with a four-run sixth. Mike Shewan and Chris VanParys hit two-run homers in the rally.

Men's B

The Brew Jays recorded their first victory of their inaugural season beating Nancy's Variety by seven.

East Elgin Spartans took over sole possession of first after defeating Ward's Automotive for the first time this season. They also came from behind to win a thriller over Nancy's Variety.

Pelicans and Corey's Restaurant moved into a tie for third in the division after mercying Brew Jays and Wine And Beer Shop respectively. The only other win was a forfeit for Wine And Beer over Diamond Dogs.

Nancy's - Chad Lofthouse 4-5, Jordy Thompson 4-5

Brew Jays scored 12 over their last two at bats en route to their first victory. Jeff Saunders and Devon Schultz each scored four runs for Brew Jays.

East Elgin - Johnny Klassen 4-4 2 HR, Peter Froese 3-4 HR, Martin Klassen HR, Pete Krahn HR, Abe Krahn HR

Ward's - Mike Mudford 3-3, Gus Ford 2-4

Home runs produced 10 of East Elgin's 16 runs. Pete Krahn, Martin and Johnny Klassen each scored three runs.

Corey's Restaurant 19,

Wine And Beer Shop 4

Corey's - Bob Long 3-3, Scott MacIntyre 3-4

Wine And Beer - Steve Hawel 2-2, Anson Boak 1-2

Scott MacIntyre led Corey's with three doubles and three runs scored.

East Elgin - Jake Friesen 5-5, Johnny Klassen 5-5, Martin Klassen HR, Abe Krahn HR, Jake Klassen 2 HR

Nancy's - Shane Hall 5-5, Jordan Rooke 4-4, Mark Siliker HR, Chad Lofthouse HR

Nancy's led by two entering the seventh and they thought they put the game away scoring seven in the top half of the inning. East Elgin sent 12 batters to the plate scoring 10 with Corny Krahn walking it off in the bottom half. Krahn also led off the rally with a triple.

Pelicans 29,

Brew Jays 9

Pelicans - Ryan Verbuyst 5-6, Mike Kamenar 4-5, Nick Lonsbary HR, Adam Jensen HR, Andrew Dawson 2 HR

Brew Jays - Brandon Vermeesch 2-2, Andrew Stonkus 2-2

Andrew Dawson led the Pelicans with six runs batted in.

Men's C

John Beere got their offence in gear this week winning by mercy twice while piling up 43 runs moving them to within two points of third place Hit N Run.They recorded mercies over Falcons and Hammer Time.

Boston Pizza and Brad Cole Orioles continue to battle for first place with Brad Cole just two points up. The two met last night, their first meeting since their opening game of the season.

Boston Pizza won easily by ten over Hit N Run while Hammer Time once again gave Brad Cole all they could handle with Brad Cole squeaking one out by one.

The constantly improving McKenzie Carquest piled up the runs in a mercy over Falcons

Boston Pizza did all of their damage over their first three at-bats. Keith Agnew had a homer and double in his first two at-bats.

Hammer Time - Justin Dygos 3-4, Dave Toal 2-4 HR

Kalvin Smith hit for the cycle for John Beere driving in five while scoring five runs.

McKenzie Carquest 27,

McKenzie Carquest - Devon MacDonald 4-4, Mike VanWynsberghe 4-4 2 HR, Kyle Mudford HR, Andrew Pocs HR

Falcons - Dave Thiessen 2-3, Dave Dyck 2-2

Everyone in the winner's lineup scored at least two runs.

Brad Cole Orioles 26,

Hammer Time - Cody Long 5-5, Jim McKibbon 5-5, Jess Legg 2 HR

This was not a defensive standout by either team, the lead changed hands almost every inning. Brad Cole won it with a three-run seventh when Dave Weaver plated Adam Morris with the game winning run.

Ladies A

The Jays are moving up the standings after knocking off Indi-Girls and Service Master. They have now won seven straight.

Corey's Restaurant won their 13th straight mercying Centre Point Contractors. Orange Crush won by mercy over Boston Pizza and Indi-Girls also mercied Centre Point.

Indi-Girls - Jess Anseeuw 4-4, Mary Boldt 3-4

Jays put this one away with a seven-run seventh. Melissa Hughes led the winners with five hits and three runs scored.

Service Master - Kayla Bond 3-4, Jess Brown 2-3

A four-run fourth keyed Jays win. Nicole Dawson scored two runs.

Orange Crush 15,

Stacy Lauwerier and Nicole Harris each scored three runs for Orange Crush.

Indi-Girls 17,

Centre Point - Keri Sunderland 3-3, Amber Campbell 2-2

Kaitlin Anseeuw led Indi-Girls with a triple and a double.

Ladies B

It is becoming quite the race for this title as just four points separate first from third. Energy Productions lead the pack after mercying Shady Acres and Pitch. Steelerz sit just two points back after upsetting A's Service Master and they also mercied Pitch.

Shady Acres kept pace after mercying Boston Pizza.

Energy scored their limit in two of their five at-bats against the short-handed Shady Acres squad.

Jordan Coderre led Steelerz with a pair of triples.

Crystal Haegens and Steph Miller each scored three runs for Energy.
