Motorcycle struck from behind in Tillsonburg

On Monday, June 12, at approximately 7:20 p.m. the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Simcoe Street and Vienna Road in Tillsonburg.

A 68-year-old male was operating a Honda motorcycle and had stopped at a red light at the intersection, facing eastbound on Simcoe Street, when he was struck from behind by a Honda four-door car.

The Tillsonburg Fire Department and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene to assist. The male driver of the motorcycle, who is from Tillsonburg, was transported to area hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries. He remains in serious condition. The female driver of the car was uninjured. The roads in the area were closed for several hours.

The female driver Linda Thompson, 49-years-of-age of Norfolk County, has been charged with Careless Driving.

OPP are looking to speak to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police. Witnesses to this collision are asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

The collision remains under investigation.
