Chapman joins Canadian Shintani team

Skylar Chapman, a Glendale High School student, recently attended the Ontario Karate Federation Tournament held at the Pan Am Centre in Markham.

Over 500 people participated in the Toronto Open competing in various age categories. Chapman won a bronze medal in Kata, and a bronze medal in Kumite.

She also just competed in the Canadian National Shintani Tournament and placed 1st in Kumite and Shindo, and 2nd in Kata.

Skylar was recently selected to join the Canadian Shintani Team to compete in Dublin, Ireland this September. She has logged over 1,000 hours of training since joining the Shintani Wado Kai Club nine years ago at the age of 6 and has graduated to a Red Belt, which is not usually given out to students unless they show exceptional performance in Kata, Kumite, and Shindo.
