Avery Johnson and Grace Boak - Around Annandale

Welcome to this week’s addition of Around Annandale. Our days are flying by and we are midway through November.

Our Grade 7/8 girl’s volleyball team is having lots of fun learning new skills. They have played against Summer's Corners, Westfield and play South Ridge next week. They have a tournament Nov. 28th at CASS in Woodstock. Ms. Mayo, Ms. Gall, Mrs. Thompson have been coaching this year's team.

The students of Annandale did a fantastic job collecting non-perishable food items for the Tillsonburg Helping Hand Food Bank. The We Club would like to announce that Annandale collected 972 items!! The winning class will be announced at the November celebration assembly where the “Souper Hero” award will be given out. Thanks to everyone who participated. We have made a difference!

The robotics club is still going strong with about 25 kids learning to code and complete tasks using robots like the Ozobot and the Sphero.

Mr. Brown is starting the Forest of Reading club including the Red Maple, Silver Birch and Blue Spruce programs in each division. He will be introducing this reading club during each class’s library time in the next couple weeks. Students who participate and read enough books are given a chance to vote for their favourites.

Thank you to Mrs. Caporicci and students who helped lead this year’s Remembrance Day assembly on November 11th. This year’s assembly included the Grade 8 band playing, videos, readings and singing. Annandale remembers.

Keep your eyes opened for next week's addition of Around Annandale.
