Charges laid after fatal collision on Richmond Road

Elgin OPP have charged Sara Hildebrant-Bueckert, 18, of Malahide Township with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway after a collision on Richmond Road at Vienna Line on Sept. 18.
On the 18th, at approximately 8:37 p.m., a black Honda motorcycle travelling northbound on Richmond Road struck the driver’s side of a blue Dodge van, which was travelling westbound on Vienna Line, after stopping for the stop sign.
The driver of the motorcycle, 41-year-old John Masales, from Malahide, died at the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle, a 37-year-old male also from Malahide Township, was transported by ambulance to hospital.
The van driver, Hildebrant-Bueckert, who was also charged with 'Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver contrary to Ontario regulation 340/94 section 5(1) of the Highway Traffic Act', and three female passengers (a 16-year-old, a 17-year-old from Malahide Township, and an 18-year-old from South-West Oxford Township) were transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The roadways were closed for approximately five-and-a-half hours.
