Local youth are invited to learn how to sail with the 3rd Tillsonburg Sea Scouts (ages 11-14) or Sea Venturers (ages 14-18).
The co-ed Sea Scouts have been running year-round for the past nine years based out of Gibson House on Concession Street, next to Lake Lisgar, during the summer months, and at St. Paul's Church in the winter.
Sea Scouts and Venturers enjoy Camp Jackson, sailing on area lakes, canoeing, geo caching on land or water, hiking at their area cabin, and much more.
Hands on sailing instruction is provided. Opportunities are available to get your Pleasure Craft Operators Card and Standard First Aid.
3rd Tillsonburg Sea Scouts will also be at the Community Centre's Kinsmen Pool this winter to work on sail boarding, as well as other water craft.
SEPT. 29 - OPEN HOUSE
An open house for anyone interested in Sea Scouts will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29 at Gibson House, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Check out www.tillsonburgseascouts.weebly.com for 'high adventure in sailing.'
Section leaders are needed, but it is possible they could start Sea Cubs for children 8-10 if there is enough interest.
