What's Happening at the Tillsonburg Library

Meagan Berry - Tillsonburg Library (OCL)

Back by popular demand, No Dice Games will return to the Tillsonburg Library on Saturday, August 13 for another Board Game Demo Day.

They will have Magic: The Gathering, Kings of War, Infinity, a variety of board games, and free giveaways! This program is for all ages, but is ideal for older kids, teens, and adults who are interested in learning and playing with new people. This is a free event, and no registration is required. Drop in and play anytime between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Teen Photography Contest

Entries are starting to roll in for the Friends of the Tillsonburg Library Teen Photography Contest, but it’s not too late to enter.

Photos must be submitted by 6 p.m. on August 19. There are four categories to enter a photo: Summer, Wild, Books & Reading, and Tillsonburg. One photo per category, per person. Entrants must have an Oxford County Library card, which are free.

Using Ancestry in the Library

Curious about your family tree? Join us in the library for a presentation on using Ancestry Library Edition and Ancestry.ca on Tuesday, August 16 at 6 p.m. This is a free presentation, no registration required.

Adult Colouring

Need to de-stress? Join us to experience the calming effects of colouring. Drop in on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Colour with like-minded people and relax. Supplies are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own.

VON Smart Exercise

Our VON Smart exercise group continues to meet every Wednesday and Friday at 1 p.m. in the program room. No registration required. Drop in and take part in gentle chair exercises.

Novels at Night Book Club

This month’s book club book is The Remedy for Love by Bill Roorbach, and we will be meeting on Thursday, August 25 at 6:30pm. Drop by the library to pick up a copy today.

Writer’s Circle

Our Writer’s Circle continues to meet bi-weekly, with the next meeting on Thursday, August 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the program room. This program is for both teens and adults, where writers receive encouragement, feedback, and the expertise of other enthusiastic amateur authors. They also host several guest authors and special guests to share their knowledge with the group. This is a drop in program, no registration required.

Monday Movies

We have a great selection of movies coming up over the next few weeks. We plan to show the following films: Aug 15 - Born to be Blue, Aug 22 - The Dark Horse, and Aug 29 - Miles Ahead. All movies are in the program room and begin at 2:00pm.

Children’s Programs

There’s only two weeks left of our summer reading club, and we have plenty of exciting activities to fill your summer days! This week we have Glow in the Dark Miniature Golf from Tuesday-Thursday.

On Monday, August 15 take part in solving the clues in our library escape room, or join in the fun on Thursday, August 18 for our Summer Reading Wrap up Party.

All programs require registration, so be sure to drop by or phone the library and reserve your spot!

Baby & Toddler Storytime

Join us every Thursday morning at 11 a.m. for story time. Babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers listen to and participate in stories, songs, crafts and more. This is a free, drop in program.
