Mae Moffat - Bunker to Bunker

Tuesday June 21st was a gorgeous day for the Easy 101.3/Country 107.3 Tournament at The Bridges at Tillsonburg.

Thirteen 18-hole ladies and twenty-seven 9-hole ladies registered and enjoyed coffee and fruit bread. The 18-hole ladies played the back nine then joined the 9-hole ladies for a shotgun start on the front nine. Club pro Tim Ament welcomed us and sent us on our way.

Following our golf game, tournament convenors Phyl Lawrence and Mary Jane Barth welcomed us in the Clubhouse dining room and introduced our sponsor Carolyn Lamers, General Manager of radio station CKOT.

Marion Hevenor asked the blessing and we were treated to a delicious lunch of fruit and cheese Kabobs, Gazpacho soup and Chicken Salad in a Melon Ring on a bed of Mixed Greens. Tiramisu was the “to die for” dessert of the day.

Mary Jane thanked chef Vasco and his staff and Chelsea and her wait staff for the preparation and lovely presentation of our lunch. She also thanked everyone else who contributed to the tournament.

Mary Jane thanked Carolyn for CKOT’s continued sponsorship and presented her with a token of our appreciation. Carolyn assisted the conveners with the presentation of the prizes.

Overall winners for the day were as follows:

Low Gross over field – 9 holes: Wendy Manson with 40

Low Gross over field – 18 holes: Linda Allard with 90 (retro)

Low Net over field – 9 holes: Judy Blodgett with 28

18-Hole Winners – A Flight: 1st Low Net – Sue Ure – 74

B Flight: 1st Low Net – Lil Neale – 66

Sue Ure was closest to the Pin on Hole #9. Christine Kaniuk was closest to the Line on Hole #3. Sue Ure had birdies on holes #2 and #5. Catherine Burke had a birdie on hole #2.

Tournament Chair Wilma Jeffery announced that the next tournament would be the “Jokers Wild” Tournament on July 19th. Anne Spencer and Jan Hawkins will be the conveners. We’re looking for a good turnout for a fun time. Watch for the signup sheets in the change room and make sure everyone you know signs up early. We’d love to have a record number of participants.

Many thanks to Mary Jane and Phyl and all their helpers for a job well done and a great day.

See you on the greens.
