Whip up some Turtley Treats

Article content

It wouldn't be a Turtlefest without the annual Turtley Treats Contest.

Hosted by the Tillsonburg Farmers' Market and Station Arts Centre on Saturday, June 18, this year's Turtley Treats can be dropped off at the Station Arts Centre from 10-11 a.m. Judging follows from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon).

Complete rules can be found online at www.stationarts.ca.

"We have a junior division (12-and-under) and adult division (13-and-older)," said Station Arts Centre general manager Deb Beard. "And we have prizes!"

Judges will sample all entries, each of which needs to be made from 'scratch'. Recipes need to be submitted with each entry (ingredients, quantities, preparation instructions).

Judging criteria is based on flavour, texture and other characteristics (consistent shape, size, evenly baked, etc).

"We usually have some interesting presentations," said Beard, noting some creations have turtle designs.

"Last year there were a few that were really different," said Kayla Agro.

"It's free to register... so come on and bring something," said Beard. "It's something nice for families to do at Turtlefest."
