Numerous thefts over the weekend

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a rash of thefts from motor vehicles in Tillsonburg that occurred over the weekend.

Between January 15 and January 17, OPP responded to approximately 10 vehicle entries that occurred throughout Tillsonburg. A variety of items were taken including loose change, identification, credit cards, tools, computers and accessories, keys, running shoes, sunglasses and medications.

The OPP would like to remind the public to ensure your belongings and vehicles are secure. Remove articles of value from your vehicles to hinder any would be thieves from breaking into your vehicles.

The OPP is also asking residents to be vigilant in recognizing suspicious people or vehicles that may be sitting in neighbour’s driveways when they are not home or vehicles that are travelling aimlessly up and down roads. The public should try to get descriptions, licence plate numbers and direction of travel and report this immediately to their local police service. It is important for this information to get to police when the suspects may still be in the area.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for these incidents should immediately contact the Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority. Weapon and drug offences

Ontario Provincial Police Norfolk County detachment charged a 41-year-old male after police stopped a vehicle at an East Quarter Line Road, South Walsingham address.

On Saturday, January 16, at approximately 10:03 p.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of East Quarter Line Road when a vehicle attracted an officer’s attention. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and investigated.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 41-year-old Jason A. Biehn of Brantford, with possession of Marihuana, possession of Methamphetamine and unlawfully possess firearm at night contrary to the Fish Wildlife Conservation Act.

He was scheduled to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

 

Theft from trailer

Norfolk OPP is reminding the public to protect their property and valuables against would-be thieves after a theft was reported in Courtland.

On Saturday, January 16, 2016 at approximately 10:50 a.m., police received a call from a concerned trailer owner on Talbot Street reporting a theft.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that on Saturday, January 16, in the early morning hours, unknowns entered a trailer that was parked on the property of a home currently under construction. Once inside, various tools and an air compressor were removed.

The theft is estimated at approximately $6,400.
