The Tillsonburg Library’s fall programs have begun and we have many exciting events and programs planned for October and November. The branch is also transforming into a spooktacular spectacle in preparation for Halloween, so stop by and check it out!

Photography Workshops with Dave Baird

Back by popular demand! Dave Baird will be returning Thursday, Oct. 22 to offer his first of many new photography workshops. Dave’s first session will be Understanding Light & Exposure with several more planned until May 2016. Workshops cost $5 each, and space is limited. Drop by the library, or give us a call at 519-842-5571 to reserve your spot now.

Cooking Demo with Jed Lau

Jed Lau from "Simply Cooking with Jed" on Rogers TV will be here to demonstrate some of his seasonal recipes. This is a free event, but space is limited and you must pre-register. Contact the Tillsonburg Library to sign up.

The Life and Times of Sir Isaac Brock

Stephen Bourne will host a lecture and discussion on The Man Who Saved Canada, and will bring along paraphernalia from 1812. This exciting event will be on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the program room. It is free and open to everyone, but registration is required.

Novels at Night Book Club

Join us on the last Thursday of every month for great discussion, friendship, and refreshments. This month’s book for discussion is Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford, and we will be meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. Books are still available, so drop by the library and pick up a copy.

Writer’s Circle

Our Writer’s Circle continues to meet bi-weekly, with the next meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the program room. This program is for both teens and adults, where writers receive encouragement, feedback, and the expertise of other enthusiastic amateur authors. The Writer’s Circle will also be hosting several guest authors to present their work, and share their knowledge with the group. If interested, please phone the library to reserve a spot.

We also continue to host Monday afternoon movies for adults at 2 p.m. in the program room, and VON Smart Exercise classes every Wednesday and Friday from 1-2 p.m.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING

Halloween Party

Join us if you dare! Frightfully fun activities for the whole family. Come and have a spooktacular time on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. No registration required.

Rocket Races

Looking for a fun activity on your next P.A. Day? Look no further! On Friday, Nov. 20 from 1-2:30 p.m. explore the energy of air pressure by building balloon-powered vehicles then put yourself in the action with GoPro video. Registration required. Please call the library at 519-842-5571.

The Milky Way Documentary Screening

Join us on the Milky Way! Public Health is celebrating World Breastfeeding Week with a special screening of the Milky Way documentary at the Tillsonburg Public Library. Bring your baby with you to the Tillsonburg Public Library on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m.

Books for Babies has returned with a new time slot beginning at 10 a.m. every Thursday. This program offers babies and their caregivers an opportunity to learn bounces, songs, and rhymes to develop early literacy skills.

Family Fun Story time will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday, and features stories, songs, crafts, and fun!

The Homeschool Program has also returned and runs bi-weekly on Tuesday’s from 1-2 p.m. This program is offered to families who are homeschooling to come to the library for one-hour sessions of fun and educational activities.

All children’s programs are free of charge, but we ask that you phone or drop by the library to register your children. More exciting programs will be launching soon, so stay tuned!
