Meagan Berry - Tillsonburg Public Library

Now that school is back in session and fall is in the air, the Tillsonburg Public Library is back in the swing of things as well with some exciting programs happening this fall. Before I tell you about some of the programs and events we will be offering, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Meagan Berry, and I recently took over the Branch Supervisor position at the Tillsonburg branch, and will be filling in over the next year while Sydnie is away. I have met many of you over the last few months, but I’m looking forward to seeing more new faces and getting to know the community. Please stop in to the branch and say hello!

Our Monday movies for adults have continued to be a great success, and we have an exciting lineup over the next few months. On September 21 we will be screening the film ’71, and in October we have plans to show Far From the Madding Crowd, Boychoir, and I’ll See You in My Dreams. All films begin at 2 p.m. in the program room, and space is limited so be sure to come early to get a seat.

The Writer’s Circle meets bi-weekly on Thursdays in our program room from 6:30-8 p.m. This program is for both teens and adults, where writers receive encouragement, feedback, and the expertise of other enthusiastic amateur authors. The Writer’s Circle will also be hosting several guest authors to present their work, and share their knowledge with the group. If interested, please phone the library to reserve a spot.

Novels at Night is our new adult book club which will first meet Wednesday, Sept 30 at 7 p.m. in the program room. The first book we will be discussing is The Twelve Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis. There are still a few copies available, so drop by the library to register and grab a book.

Back by popular demand! Dave Baird will be returning in October to offer new and exciting photography workshops beginning with Understanding Light & Exposure on Thursday, Oct. 22. Regular sessions, with exciting new topics, will be offered monthly until May 2016! Sessions cost $5 each, and space is limited. Drop by the library to reserve your spot today.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about the kids! Our regular children’s programming returns this week too. This Thursday Books for Babies will return, at a new time slot, beginning at 10 a.m. This program offers babies and their caregivers an opportunity to learn bounces, songs, and rhymes to develop early literacy skills.

Family Fun Story time will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m., and features stories, songs, crafts, and fun!

The Homeschool Program will begin this week, and will continue bi-weekly, for the fall. This program is offered to families who are homeschooling to come to the library for one-hour sessions of fun and educational activities.

All children’s programs are free of charge, but we ask that you phone or drop by the library to register your children.

Look out for the Grossest PA Day Ever on Friday, Oct. 2 where kids are invited to the library to get ready for Halloween by participating in ghastly activities – if you dare! Participants will create several ghoulish crafts to take home and make their parents faint. This program runs from 1-2:30, and registration is required.

More exciting programs will be launching soon, so stay tuned! To keep up with the latest programs and events you can drop by the library, check our online events calendar, or phone to speak with our friendly staff. I would also like to remind all patrons that the Tillsonburg Public Library will be closed on Monday, Sept. 28 for staff training. Regular business hours will resume the following day.
