Backus Owl Prowl should be real hoot

The Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) is gearing up for its popular Owl Prowl program at Backus Heritage Conservation Area.

On Saturday, July 25th, people can discover the habits and amazing adaptation of Ontario’s owls with Outdoor Educator Fiona Street.

Families are invited to arrive at 8 p.m. on the 25th to take part in a special owl craft activity, examine an owl pellet and view wildlife displays.

A presentation inside the Conservation Education Centre at 8:30 p.m. will highlight interesting facts about owls. At 9 p.m., participants will take a guided walk through the woods looking and listening for owls.

“We have been hosting Owl Prowls for many years now, and they are always extremely popular,” said Street.

Cost to attend the Owl Prowl is $2 per child, $4 per adult or $10 for a family.

Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear for an evening walk along the trails and to bring insect repellent and a flashlight.

Contact LPRCA’s Outdoor Educator Fiona Street at 519-586-2201, ext 231, or email outdoored@lprca.on.ca for more information.
