Free concerts

I attend the free concerts held at Newman Park and at the Museum. I really would like to be able to enjoy them but unfortunately some people just come there to visit and talk throughout most of the programs.

I wonder if these same people who have little regard for the other people trying to enjoy the programs, as well as having no regard for the performers, would talk through programs that they paid $25 to $150 for? I doubt it very much – you can usually hear a pin drop during these performances.

Just because they are free does not mean they do not deserve to be treated with the same respect.

Tillsonburg Lioness Tour of Gardens

The Tillsonburg Lioness Club held the Annual Tour of Gardens on June 27 and June 28, 2015. The garden tour featured seven beautiful gardens. The heavy winds and rain did not dampen the spirits of Tillsonburg's faithful garden lovers.

The Tour of Gardens committee would like to thank everyone who attended in the rain and supported our event. We are very grateful for the garden owners who shared their lovely gardens with us. I would also like to extend our thanks for the excellent news coverage including the large photographs that were provided by The Tillsonburg News.

This year the proceeds received from our garden tour will go toward Lioness-sponsored scholarships at Glendale High School.

Thanks to everyone that worked on the planning and preparations of this fundraising event. Finally, I wish to thank the Lioness members and our Lioness friends that volunteered their time at the homes on the garden tour. It takes a lot of volunteers to make this a success. I am thankful for everyone that helped out on the tour for the weekend.

Judy Witczak, Tour of Gardens Coordinator
