Mae Moffat - Bunker to Bunker

Thirty-six Tuesday Lady Golfers got the season off to a good start on May 5th at The Bridges at Tillsonburg. It was jacket weather on a cloudy but dry morning.

Eight 18-hole ladies played for low gross on the par 4 holes. Devona Allin finished first with 53. Stella Black, Taye Jackson and Pam Good all tied for second with 56.

Stella Black had a birdie on hole 16.

Twenty-eight 9-hole ladies played for low gross on the par 3 holes. Anne Spencer was first with 14. Mary Delouche was second with 16. Jan Hawkins was third with 17. Tying for fourth were Helen Cull, Ruth Joness, Marion Hevenor, Bryden Sinden, Mary Fassaert and Dorell Clark, all with 18.

Wilma Jeffery had a birdie on hole 9.

I'm very pleased to report that 41 ladies have registered for the 9-Hole Ladies League. This is a big increase over recent years. We extend a huge welcome to all the new members. We hope you enjoy your games and the subsequent social time with the "not-so-new" members. The in-house tournaments and luncheons are fun days and a great way to get to know everyone better. All members - old and new- are encouraged to participate in "Match Play" and "Ringers and Putts." Signup sheets for all the events are posted in the change room.

Don't forget, the 18-hole ladies also play on Thursday and the 9-hole ladies on Friday. If you have a hankering to change hats and play the opposite game, these are the days to do it. Either league will welcome the interchange.

The newly renovated Club House is a pleasure and greatly appreciated, as are the ongoing improvements to the course. It's good to see some of the obstacles, i.e. trees, gone and new and very soft sand in some of the traps. The Pro Shop has a great selection of merchandise... shop early to get the best choice.

See you on the greens.
