Prouse Electric & Mechanical gives back

Article content

Do you know someone who deserves an air conditioner as a random act of kindness?

Prouse Electric and Mechanical Ltd., a family owned and operated business in Tillsonburg and surrounding area since 1978, came up with the idea to give back to the community.

"We wanted to show our appreciation to our community for their support and loyalty," said Jaime Bilger, purchaser/office manager.

"I think we owe it to our community to do something good for them, to give back a bit."

They wanted to do it in the form of a Random Act of Kindness. With that in mind, Prouse Electric and Mechanical will be supplying and installing a new energy efficient Lennox air conditioner – typically valued around $3,000 including install – to a deserving community member nominated by someone from the community.

Bilger said nominations, subject to inspection, could go to an individual or family going through financial difficulties, personal trauma, or healthy issues. Or an individual who goes above and beyond for people and deserves a thank you or good deed in return.

"As long as it's someone who is deserving of it," she said. "Not necessarily someone who's down on their luck... just someone who is a very deserving person."

Starting Friday, May 1, nominations can be submitted in one of three ways – 'Like' or 'Share' Prouse Electric and Mechanical's Facebook page and either post the nomination publicly or by private message. Email them to rak@prouse.ca. Or for those without Facebook or email, a letter can be mailed to Jaime Bilger's attention at Prouse Electric and Mechanical, 75 Spruce Street, Tillsonburg, ON, N4G 5C4.

Information to include with the nomination – nominator's name, nominee's name, nominee's phone number, nominee's address, and the reason they are being nominated.

Deadline for nominations is May 22, 2015. The winner will be announced on Friday, May 29.

"That's kind of the beginning of the air conditioning season," said Bilger. "Somebody might want to get it installed before the heat of the summer."

The air conditioning unit they will supply and install meets or exceeds SEER-13 (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) with environmentally responsible government regulated R410A refrigerant, and comes with a 10 years of parts warranty and 1 year of labour warranty.

Prouse Electric and Mechanical Ltd., which added the mechanical division in 1999, employs about 25 people.
