Tillsonburg's Heritage/Beautification, TACAC, Cemetery Committee is holding a tree planting and clean up day on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
About 1,000 seedlings will be planted behind the ball diamond at the end of Concession Street East. Some participants will be planting and others will be going to some of the many parks in town to clean up litter.
"We're looking at between 150-200 people participating," said committee member Susan Saelens.
The event begins at the Annandale canteen at the diamonds on Concession East, where they will have maps, gloves and garbage bags.
"Those who aren't involved in the planning can choose one of the parks. They'll register for a park, go there, clean up, then come back. So we should be able to cover most of the 10-12 parks we have. There's a lot of little parks."
The Tillsonburg Sea Scouts typically work around Lake Lisgar, and assist with the planting, and a large contingent of local Girl Guides annually pitch in.
Keep Tillsonburg Beautifual 2015 will wrap up with a BBQ by Chrissy's Catering at the ball park on Concession East.
"We have a couple of groups setting up info tables for people to access, and doing draws for prizes. Mostly for the kids."
