Collision with school bus results in impaired charge

On Tuesday, April 7, at approximately 4 p.m., Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a van and a Lang school bus, at Pressey Line near Culloden Road in Southwest Oxford Township.
Through police investigation it was determined that the male driver of the van had struck the rear of the school bus which was stopped with lights activated. There was one student on the bus along with the driver. No injuries were reported. The driver of the van was subsequently found to be impaired and was arrested. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
Michael Palen, 58 years old, of Norwich Township, was charged with the following: Operate a Motor Vehicle – Over 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood; Operate a Motor Vehicle – Impaired.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date.
