Beat the 'February' blahs at the Library

Beat the February Blah’s by stopping in to the library to pick up some great materials or to attend one of our exciting programs!

The second adult photography workshop with Dave Baird is coming up on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The theme of this session is Getting Started with DSLR Cameras, and Dave will go over the basic functions of a DSLR while providing tips for its use. The cost of this session is $5 per person. Participants are invited to register for this or any subsequent sessions by contacting the library.

Stephen Bourne will be back once again to discuss the North American theatre of the Seven Years’ War, The French-Indian War and the Battle of Quebec. He will discuss Britain’s narrow victory and its implications on the soon-to-follow American Revolution. History enthusiasts won’t want to miss this exciting, free presentation on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. Please call the library to reserve your spot as spaces are limited.

If you’re a movie lover, look no further for some great, free flicks! On Monday afternoon at 1 p.m., we show some great movies for adults! On Feb. 9 we’ll be screening Gone Girl based on Gillian Flynn’s hit novel! Coming later in the month is Calvary (Feb. 23), and on March 2 we’ll be screening multiple Academy Award nominee St. Vincent, starring Bill Murray. All films are subject to availability and space is limited for each screening.

Don’t worry, we have something for children, too! On the second Saturday of February we’ll be showing the animated feature The Book of Life at 1 p.m. This movie is also free and includes free popcorn! Kids under 10 years should be accompanied by an adult.

If you’ve got little ones and you’re looking to keep them busy, why not drop by for one of our storytime programs? Books for Babies runs each Tuesday from 9:45-10:15 a.m., and you’ll learn new songs, bounces, rhymes, and hear a story or two. Family Fun Storytime on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. is great for kids under five years old, and is a great interactive storytime that focuses on stories, felt boards, puppets, songs, and more! All storytimes are free and registration is encouraged.
