Assault charge in Tillsonburg

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance in the underground parking at the Tillsonburg Town Centre on Broadway on Friday, December 26 shortly before 11 a.m.

OPP were advised that a fight had taken place just prior to police arrival involving three males. Police were given a description of the males and information that one male suspect fled on a bicycle, believed to be a carrying a knife. Police located the suspect on a bicycle at Simcoe Street and Tillson Avenue.

The cyclist was directed by police to stop and OPP officers conducted a traffic stop. When officers stepped out of the cruiser to approach the suspect, the male got off the bicycle and rammed it into the leg of one of the officers. A brief struggle ensued and the male was arrested. The officer received minor injuries.

Kevin Jaroszewski, 37, from South-West Oxford Township has been charged with: Assault a Peace Officer; Resist a Peace Officer; and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

Jaroszewski was held for a bail hearing and released December 27 on a Recognizance of Bail.

Break and enter in Norwich Township

Oxford OPP responded to a report of a break enter and theft Dec. 27 on Greenly Line in Norwich Township. Sometime between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked garage and stole a tool box. Two unlocked vehicles in the driveway were also entered and items taken. The tool box was recovered in an adjacent field. A neon yellow and black duffle bag, various hand tools and a small amount of money is still outstanding. Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area around the time of the incident.

 

Hillside Kennels break-in

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break enter and theft at Hillside Kennels Animal Control, located on Township Road 6 in Blandford Blenheim Township, on Sunday, Dec. 27.

The theft occurred between 2:30 p.m. on December 26 and 9 a.m. on December 27. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the business by prying open the main door of the locked business.

The office area was targeted and a Sony Vaio laptop, a Brother copier, and a small amount of cash taken. A 2009 Ford F150 pickup truck, dark green in colour was also stolen from the business and recovered on Middletown Line in Norwich Township, shortly after 12 p.m. on December 27. The vehicle had been completely destroyed by fire.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area around the time of the incident.
